The dramatic consequences of the deadly flash floods in Spain's Valencian region are a devastating reminder of what's to come in all corners of the earth as a warming world struggles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. And it's also a cruel reminder of how much remains to be done in terms of preparing for more extreme weather. "We have to be investing now to be able to protect people in the future", explains Dr. Jess Neumann, Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Reading.
