A series of French newsrooms – including France 24 – have been targeted and impersonated by a Russian disinformation campaign. The operation capitalised on the recent 10th anniversary of the 2015 Paris attacks, to sow division and discredit President Emmanuel Macron. The propaganda machine, named “Operation Matryoshka”, is one we have seen and been targeted by before, as Vedika Bahl explains in Truth or Fake.
