An ongoing blockade by the al-Qaeda-linked group JNIM has brought much of the country's economy to a standstill. This comes as fighting between non-state armed groups, the Malian army, and their Russian backed allies, intensifies. Communities have been cut off from supplies, and in some towns, fighters are ordering entire villagers to leave or be treated as the enemy, meaning hundreds of families continue to arrive at the Mauritania–Mali border.
