France 24 correspondent Pamela Falk reports from New York, where senior UN official Miroslav Jenča on Tuesday called reports that Israel is mulling an expansion of its military operations in Gaza "deeply alarming," as the Israeli government faces increasing pressure both at home and internationally to end the war. Jenča said such a decision would have "catastrophic" consequences on both Palestinians in Gaza, who already face starvation amid unrelenting attacks by the Israeli army, and the captives still held in the enclave.
