EU unveils long-promised plan to quit Russian gas by end-2027

The European Commission on Tuesday issued roadmap on how it plans to phase out Russian gas imports by 2027. The two-step plan will terminate new contracts and existing short-term deals by 2025, with a complete ban by 2027. This move is part of the EU's effort to reduce Russian leverage over energy supplies following the invasion of Ukraine.
