He proudly served his country as a pilot in the Israeli Air Force. Now, he believes his country is no longer serving its people. “The war in Gaza at this stage is merely for political purposes and not for security reasons… killing thousands of innocent Palestinians,” says peace activist Guy Poran. His petition, signed by over 150,000 reservists and civilians, calls on ordinary Israelis to rise up. When the voices of command, of soldiers, of grieving parents and outraged citizens all dissent, as the government marches on, then a once-vibrant democracy is tragically in full retreat.
