United States Geological Survey said the quake was shallow, at a depth of just 10km (six miles) with the epicentre near the central city of MandalayAs we mentioned earlier, the epicenter of the earthquake was in central Myanmar, about 30 miles (50km) east of the city of Monywa. The AP says that in the capital Naypyitaw, the quake damaged religious shrines, sending parts toppling to the ground, and some homes.
