The Israeli army said Sunday its land assault on the Gaza Strip had split the Palestinian territory in two, with "significant" strikes continuing in its war against Hamas. The strikes came as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken continued his Middle-eastern tour with an unannounced visit to Iraq, as Washington tries to prevent a regional spillover. Tensions increased with neighbouring Lebanon as an Israeli strike in the south of the country killed three children and their grandmother, Lebanese authorities said.
